Reflex, a sensory object that reacts to gestural motion and translates sensed movement into a six channel surround sound experience.

Centrally placed in the room, the object emits slow vibrating pulses of light that engages the audience to approach it. As more activity is sensed, these pulses of light become stronger and the texture of the surrounding sound alters. Reflex is the second installation for the Audi A8 Lauch 2010 in Singapore.

Custom software and hardware was build to feed a six channel sound system. The sensing interface uses four ultra-sonic motion sensors connected to two arduino uno boards sending analog data to a processing sketch. Here, data is smoothened and converted into midi signal and send to Ableton Live to trigger sounds for the 6 channel motu sound interface.
